Hi, my name is Carolyn.
My Pilates journey began about twelve years ago when I found myself really unwell.
As part of my “self-healing” journey, I began taking private Pilates sessions. I learnt how to breathe properly, I learnt how to be present and aware of my body as I did each exercise.
My body began to grow stronger and more flexible.
Through regular Pilates and with the guidance of a specialist doctor, my body began to heal.
I also chose to quit refined sugar, learnt to make healthier food choices, enjoyed monthly remedial massages and took time out for myself - stepping away for a few hours each week from my role as wife, mum, home maker and partner in a small business.
I enjoyed Pilates so much that when the opportunity to train as an instructor presented itself, I grabbed it with both hands.
Studying again in my mid forties, was not easy! But I knew the benefits first hand and my goal was to share Pilates with as many people as I could from that moment on…
I started up my own studio - Just Pilates- here on the beautiful Gold Coast, Australia.
I have spent the last ten years working with the most amazing clients. Each one is on a personal journey through life, and I have the privilege of being a part of their journey, as their Pilates instructor.
And now, here I am…I look forward to meeting you, and I will be honoured to be a part of your journey and to help you feel stronger and fabulous as you work through these Pilates sessions!
Whether you’re new to Pilates or have enjoyed this beautiful form of exercise for years, I hope you will find these sessions enjoyable! Pilates is for any age and any body type.
Pilates can even be part of a healing journey if you have an injury or chronic illness/condition.
*However, please check with your doctor or health professional whether Pilates is a good fit for you before you begin!
My Pilates training is in the classical style taught by Joseph Pilates, but I do add some variations and stretches that I have learnt over my years of training and teaching beautiful bodies.
I describe my Pilates sessions as restorative and calming, for both body and mind.
I aim to achieve this by teaching you to breathe properly, to be present and to control each movement.
If you choose to join me for Pilates, I’ll encourage you to slow down and learn to focus inwardly.
You can work at your own pace and will be valued and respected for who you are, not what you can do.
Come and take a break from the frantic pace of life and from the expectations of others.
